Kendrick Lamar has quickly become hip-hop’s golden child after releasing his certified gold debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d city. Given his success, his Black Hippy crew can reap some of the benefits his fame has had on the once underground label. The next Top Dawg member up for a debut album is Schoolboy Q and K-Dot had some words of advice for his label mate.

"Any advice I would give to Q is really just continue to do what he been doin'. It's definitely the big leagues, but he got it," he said. "I ain't gotta tell him too much, because we sat in that studio throughout them years together and planned out what's to come in the future, and the future is now, so he already know. Just continue doin' what he been doin', and everything else will prosper behind that."

Schoolboy Q’s album, titled Oxymoron, follows the heels of his previously released Habits & Contradictions which featured contributions from the likes of A$AP Rocky to Jay Rock and even Kendrick himself. Given that Kendrick is regarded as hip-hop’s savior it must be a hard act for Schoolboy Q to follow, but K-Dot thinks Schoolboy Q has it together

"I haven't asked him yet, but when I go in those sessions and he in there, he comfortable. He's excited more than anything, and I think he feels the same way that I felt before my album came out," K-Dot explained.

Kendrick told Schoolboy Q to keep his cool and keep doing what he does best. “"I just took it upon being myself and doing what I been doing since day one, and that's exactly what happened.”

K-Dot has been lending a hand to a lot of his pals, the Compton MC recently joined forces with Ab-Soul on his video “ILLuminate.”
